Learning About The Largemouth Bass And So Much More
Last school year, one of the most fun days of the year was the one I spent bringing my students on a day trip to the JL Scott Aquarium. I purchased tickets for me and all my students online and got a special discount because it was an educational activity and because we were reserving as a large group. We arrived in the aquarium right before opening time, so we could make the most out of our day there. There were a few guides waiting for us. They would be the ones to introduce the kids to the various species of marine life that they would see inside the aquarium that day. The guides were very knowledgeable and child-friendly, so the kids were able to learn a lot.
There was so much to see inside the aquarium including the famous state fish of Mississippi— the Largemouth Bass. The kids learned a lot about this fish, including where it lives, what it eats each day, how to distinguish this fish from other similar looking ones, and so much more. It was really a wonderful learning experience for the kids.
How The JL Scott Aquarium In Mississippi Changes Lives
Aside from learning about marine life, the kids were also introduced to the concept of environmental protection. They learned about how important it is that they play their part in protecting the environment, specifically the rivers and seas, by doing small things such as throwing their trash in the proper place.I was glad to see that one of my students seemed especially interested in what the guides were telling her. She was very curious about all the different things she was learning about and kept on asking questions all day. Perhaps she will end up becoming a marine biologist or go into some similar field when she grows up. I am really hoping she does.
